Recycling Plant

For the Chaparral Steel Recycling Plant in Virginia, Heavy Structures successfully provided the structural steel design, along with materials for roll line and cooling beds. This massive building covers more than 425,000 sq. ft. and stretched for more than a quarter-mile.

Features of the building include:

  • Built-up sections for roof beams
  • Shop-fabricated trusses for columns
  • High-use cranes (15 to 50 tons in weight) supported by open-web columns
