KANSAS CITY, MO. – BlueScope Buildings North America (BBNA), a leader in the design and manufacture of custom-engineered buildings in the industrial, commercial and community segments, has joined the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as a Collaboration Partner. Rooted in both businesses’ recognition that working together can accelerate awareness of the value engineered buildings offer, architects and the steel industry together can shape the future of our communities while enhancing productivity, adaptability, and sustainability within the built environment.

“Advancing larger global issues like decarbonization, energy transition and realizing more sustainable outcomes in building design, products and services, hinges on creating partnerships that broaden our usable, collective knowledge to ensure we are building a better world for the future,” says BBNA Strategic Marketing Vice President Luke Dawson. “This partnership with the AIA is one example of our business making a more concerted effort to educate, engage, and talk about the trends and drivers affecting design and build, while we’re exploring growth.”

Together, BBNA and AIA will focus on market engagement and insight generation to generate tools and resources that can be applied to real-world initiatives, as well as Continuing Education Units (CEU) for AIA’s membership, while adding the perspective of the architectural community to BBNA’s ideation and innovation process.

“Our partnership with AIA is organized around three pillars of activity: business intelligence, design advisory and thought leadership. These pillars connect our industries in a meaningful way while creating opportunities,” says BBNA North America Brands Senior Vice President Greg Pasley. “Our goal is to enable architectural and design professionals to do their best work while leveraging our strong 2,000-builder network across our engineered buildings brands, Butler Manufacturing and Varco Pruden Buildings. We are excited to uncover new ways of working that allow the built environment to realize its full potential.”

As part of the collaboration, BBNA will sit on the AIA Manufacturers Council, exclusively representing the engineered building systems industry to improve understanding about the breadth and depth of our solutions.
